Esther Bible Study

Life Lessons from the book of Esther

The following are outlines I wrote while teaching the book of Esther to teenagers. I later adapted the lessons for an adult women’s class. I referred to several different commentaries as I studied for the lessons. You may find that helpful in your personal preparation as well. After the Customs & Courtesies and Background lessons (which can be combined), each lesson represents a chapter of the book of Esther except for the final lesson, which combines chapters 9 and 10 into one lesson. Read the chapter and commentary before studying the outline to gain the most from each lesson. Feel free to copy these and present them in group Bible studies.

  1. Customs & Courtesies of the Medo-Persian Empire
  2. Background to the Book of Esther
  3. Making Decisions We Won’t Later Regret
  4. Succeed or Survive?
  5. Pride & Prejudice
  6. Don’t Just Stand There…Do Something!
  7. Don’t Just Do Something…Stand There
  8. Sleepless in Susa
  9. What Goes Around, Comes Around
  10. Mission Impossible
  11. Today’s Decisions, Tomorrow’s Legacies
